Jobs Jobs Jobs. Issue 84 is going to be a bumper edition for jobs.
With more and more focus and news on our world of Conversational AI, it’s no surprise that the number of jobs in our professions seems to be skyrocketing. This is great news. But is there the talent to fill the requirements now and in the future?
I came across this interesting article showing that by 2040, Japan will be short of 11mn workers. And they're already turning to avatars to fill the gaps. By 2030, Japan could see 100,000 avatar operators deployed.
So, for us this is interesting and exciting across two paradigms. One, this is probably prophetic on the future of most northern hemisphere economies. We know that most have an ageing population, which is top-heavy. So we have to:
a) think about how we prepare the next generation of the workforce for the future of work, as we enter into what is the next industrial revolution and all the uniqueness of this compared to the last
b) plan to employ technology (such as we see in Japan) to augment that workforce
c) offshore to southern hemisphere economies, such as the African continent, where we see a younger, bottom-heavy, population.
Also, for those of you who have a keen interest in Conversational AI in HR and Recruitment, specifically, I have launched a new newsletter called H.A.I.R. - AI in HR (get it?). It’s also deliciously ironic, seeing as hair isn’t something I would usually talk about… (IYKYK).
