Own The Conversation - Issue #55
Featured jobs from bot-jobs.com, Conversational AI news and Events
Colleagues,
How are you feeling in general about the industry, now that the chatGPT craze is still pumping on?
Are you having to defend the technology, correct misunderstandings, give excuses for the Google Bard error?
Reply back and let me know whether this hype has improved things for you, or if you are spending an inordinate amount of time talking about it.
Either way, the poll I ran in the last issue was interesting:
What I am taking from this is that those who are using chatGPT are finding it useful and it is making an impact in their day-to-day jobs. For us, I think that means supporting the Conversation Design Process and creating content. But we’ll find out more in this week’s poll.

Latest Blogs and Content
Well, I ran a poll on LinkedIn to ask what people wanted to read about next. Wasn’t the best response. I usually get close to 100 votes per poll, this was 20% of my usual engagement. Either the topic or the timing was wrong. Will keep experimenting with this, as it’s important for me to write about things that you want to read.
However, the poll did uncover a preferred subject for this week’s blog - Data Literacy (you exciting people, you!).
So here’s my latest blog:
It’s also worth mentioning a couple of other pieces of content I have appeared in this week.
Firstly, the fantastic Kane Simms and Ben McCulloch wrote a post about layoffs in Conversation Design. They asked me, Hillary Black and Allys Parsons for our point of view on the hiring market. The good news is that we all agree that there are still a huge amount of opportunities out there. Read the rest by clicking the image:
And finally, at the end of the week, the Recruiting Brainfood Maestro, Hung Lee, invited me onto his weekly Brainfood Live to discuss chatGPT for recruiters. It’s a two hour session featuring demos, use cases and some ‘wise heads’ talking (that' includes me apparently), but if you want to take in my top learning from chatGPT and what it means for the future of recruitment, then skip to 1:43 (ish).

End Note
If I didn’t think it was cold enough recently in the UK, then it’ll be colder for me this week, as Mrs Redstone and I are taking a trip to Iceland for 4 nights as a late celebration of last year’s 10-year wedding anniversary.
Lots of activities and food to try, but I am always looking for more recommendations. Have you been and can you give me some recommendations for places to eat/drink in Rekjavik and activities to do in general (we’re already going to find the northern lights, doing a golden circle tour and visiting the Blue Lagoon).
Every week I’ll be running a quick poll on something I have been thinking about this past week, so do please give me a quick response here:
Anyway, if you want to add anything into next-week’s newsletter (events/jobs etc.) then feel free to DM me on LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram or even TikTok
Here’s hoping you have a great week.
Thanks for getting this far.
